Although I have been procrastinating on my over-intellectualized review of Edward Skeletrix, Cowgirl Clue’s ‘Total Freedom’ caught my ears and haven’t let go.
Already a fan of her work after her debut album Icebreaker seeing her growth has been amazing.
Her second album ‘Rodeo Star’ was where I felt she was really carving her sound and space out. Rodeo Star is a no skips album with each song only upping the ante with the country and electronic mix with orgasmic drops.
Total Freedom takes what was done in Rodeo Star and polishes it to its max. Unlike Rodeo Star the electronic and guitar elements are blended at once making each song super cohesive and refreshing.
It must’ve been really freeing making it.
I find the lyrical content something really relatable as of now too, especially with references to feeling like a passenger in your own life, how sometimes silence is the best option, and the struggle of letting go. Every guitar riff, and electronic bump only serves to add to the message of her ethereal vocals.
Its a super cool project my favorite songs are:
– Full Throttle
– Arrows
– Ballet Flat$ On The Ga$ Pedal
