My latest photo shoot and first act of my project PRIMARY SCHOOL is done and complete!
I have already chatted about what it all means here.
What I wanted to talk about in this post was the stylistic choices that I made and providing further insight to the whole project.

With how I styled the two I really wanted them to be like two flowers, one that is still in full bloom and the other that is slowly revealing themselves.
The theme for this shoot based itself in death and rebirth. The environments we chose were either in active decay or already destroyed and dead.
Ryant’s outfit being indicative of a fresh flower opening up, I chose the layers of each part of his outfit to represent the different layers and pedals of the flower.
The outermost layer of the shirts is supposed to be the bud of his flower where we see the rest of him bloom out from. The second layer that has the black flower pattern is where each of his pedals are seen.
While the leopard print closest to him is the filament of the flower.
The wrap around him represents the previous flowers that have come and gone in the bed that he sprouts from now. It anchors the entire outfit together and provides a taste at what the full flower could look like once it is fully in bloom.
On the other hand Brooks’ outfit was a flower in full bloom. Standing dignified in its beauty every part of it is alluring.
In contrast with some of the more muted tones seen in Ryant’s outfit, with this look used bold reds and patterns that brought you to the flower garden.
The dresses that I used in this look served to be the base of the flower, eye catching but not too distracting.
The red sweater worn underneath is like the stem that props the flower up and holds everything firm and tight.
The jacket (handmade by Michele Blu) was where the flower blossomed, the patterns, the colors, and the form of the garment brought the entire look together.
Like Ryant’s outfit leopard print was used to complete the flower.
Overall this entire shoot was really fun and I was super happy to flex my creative muscles in a new way with being a stylist, photographer, director, and editor with this all.
