The means by which punishment is administered [archive]

Guilty or innocent until proven otherwise, these methods that we use to convict others of societal crimes are also the means by which we administer discipline to our youth. And Kayla and I started a conversation about this but I was too anniebrated to talk at depth like how she was. But this is an incredibly important thought that must be explored if a better society is to be created

With the colonial courts that most deal with it is guilty until proven otherwise and the punishments administered because of this keeps a society in check through more violent methods, a rule via fear

The united states goes to the opposite end of this spectrum between innocence and guilt, by assuming all are innocent until proven guilty, which allows for more sick and twisted individuals to thrive using the flaws in this system

And for a society to work it assumed that we must stick to these two ideas but allowing things to remain in a state of ambiguity until proven otherwise allows this to thrive, the reason that being seen guilty is such a terrible things is because your life is guaranteed to be far worse because of it, ( the colonialist ideology ) specifically because you are no longer seen to be equal to a human any longer, being guilty quite literally strips you from your humanity
So the course correction of an overhaul of the judiciary system would require us to put humanity first, show that even those that do wrong will still be treated with their basic human respect even if they do not hold that belief, course correcting their brain with surrounding them with a love of just existing to the point where committing a “crime” in itself is ridiculous
But this would require many steps before it, economic equity for all people beyond any means of a state, a respect of the world and the other forms of life that are shared with it, and a lot more that I cant think about

With the cycles of violence and dehumanization that we are continuously toppling over ourselves with, I think it is the duty of every person to undertake the task of understanding the many many means by which a lot of our actions have direct ties to the violent violent shapings of the world and the many societies that have there sprung from it too,
